A battery electric vehicle uses stored electrical energy for driving; a plug-in hybrid combines a rechargeable battery with an engine. Start with daily journeys, charging access and the intended use. The right choice depends on those conditions and the exact vehicle, rather than the energy label alone.
Read range figures in context
Keep the test cycle, model year and trim beside every range figure. Do not compare CLTC and WLTP as though they were measured on the same basis. For a plug-in hybrid, distinguish electric range from combined range. Check the battery, charging connection and published charging conditions for the exact version.
Describe destination needs early
Tell the team about available charging, climate, passenger or cargo use and interface language needs. Request specification confirmation for the proposed vehicle and discuss destination documentation before agreeing an order.
